Rhinoplasty

There are several types of rhinoplasty procedures, and it is important for you to know which one is right for your goals and needs.

There are two types of primary rhinoplasty. Primary rhinoplasty essentially means it is the first major surgical attempt to reshape the nose. Within primary rhinoplasty, there are two surgical strategies –open and closed. In a closed procedure, most of the work is done within the nose, which limits scarring. Open procedures call for an incision along the soft tissue that separates the nostrils, which then allows for better access for reshaping but results in more scarring.

If you have corrections you need to make due to previous rhinoplasty procedures, you may need secondary rhinoplasty, which basically means corrective rhinoplasty.

A consultation with a qualified, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Carl Lentz will help you decide.
