Which breast implants should I choose?

When patients ask about implants for breast augmentation, Central Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Lentz uses his 30+ years of experience to give them guidance. Ultimately, the final decision comes down to personal preference. While saline-filled implants are the choice for many women, Dr. Lentz has found that the most natural results are usually attained with textured silicone gel implants. He will assist you to choose an implant size that will help you have the breast size and shape you desire. His preference is to help you attain a body that is attractive, balanced, and natural looking.

Can I have breast augmentation at the same time as another procedure?

Certainly! Many women combine breast augmentation in Daytona Beach with a tummy tuck, breast lift, liposuction, and even volume replacement with dermal fillers for a Mommy Makeover. In addition to moms, women whose breasts are sagging due to weight fluctuations or aging often combine breast augmentation with a breast lift for an attractive, contoured breast shape.

What type of anesthesia do you use for breast augmentation?

In the interest of patient safety, Dr. Lentz uses only general anesthesia for breast augmentation surgery. He uses an AAAASF-certified operating room and is accompanied by a team of highly trained surgery technicians. Dr. Lentz prefers that patients remain asleep through their entire procedure for enhanced comfort.

Will breast augmentation increase my chances of getting breast cancer?

Breast augmentation with implants has not been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. Dr. Lentz suggests women over age 35 have a baseline mammogram before surgery. After breast augmentation, you can have routine follow-up mammograms. However, you should inform the technician in advance that you have implants.

Is it true that my own body fat can be used to increase the size of my breasts?

Yes. If you are looking for a modest increase in breast size, Dr. Lentz can perform breast augmentation using autologous fat grafting. He collects some of your excess body fat using liposuction, purifies it, and injects it back into the fat tissue of the breasts. This process provides dual benefits: breast enhancement and body sculpting.

Can I breastfeed with my implants?

Yes you may breastfeed with either the saline or gel implants. Implants do NOT decrease your ability to breast feed; some women, unfortunately, are unable to lactate efficiently, but this is unrelated to your implants or surgery.
