Breast augmentation which is technically known as augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breast. This can be done for a number of reasons: to enhance the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breasts are too small; to correct reduction in breast volume after pregnancy; to balance a difference in breast size. A breast implant is filled with a salt-water solution known as saline. An incision can be made either in the arm pit, around periareolar (around the colored portion of the nipple) or under the breast itself. Saline filled Implants are always placed behind the muscle to help reduce ripples.
