Breast Augmentation
(augmentation mammaplasty)
|
Breast augmentation which is technically known as augmentation mammoplasty which is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breast. This can be done for a number of reasons: to enhance the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breasts are too small; to correct reduction in breast volume after pregnancy; to balance a difference in breast size; and as a reconstructive technique following breast surgery. A breast implant is a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or salt-water solution known as saline. An incision can be made either in the arm pit, around periareolar (around the colored portion of the nipple) or under the breast itself. Implants are usually placed behind the muscle or will be placed under the breast tissue in indicated cases.
Breast augmentation is done as an outpatient procedure in the office under general anesthesia. The procedure is fairly short and recovery time is fairly rapid. Most patients are able to return to work in three to five days with restrictions on lifting for two to six weeks. Breast augmentation is relatively straight forward, but as with any operation there are risks associated with surgery and specific complications associated with this procedure. It is important that this is all discussed with your surgeon prior to your surgery date.

Face Lift (rhytidectomy)
|
As people age, the effects of gravity, sun exposure and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth; the jawline grows slack and jowly; folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A facelift, while it doesn’t stop the aging process, can improve the visible signs of aging by removing access fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the facial and neck skin. A facelift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, and fat injections which can be used to contour the face and add fullness to areas such as the lips. The best candidates for facelifts are men and women whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined.
A facelift usually takes several hours but can be longer if more than one procedure is being performed. Recovery time will vary among patients but most are back to work within ten days to two weeks.

Surgery of the Nose (rhinoplasty)
| One of the most common plastic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of a patient’s nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip. It is also used to correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour or two, though complicated procedures may take longer. Most patients are able to resume sedentary activities such as school and work within one week. Full recovery can vary among patients, but they can expect to be recovered fully in 6-8 weeks. Portions of rhinoplasty are often covered by insurance. We will help to determine what portion will be covered for you and what you as the patient will be responsible for.

Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a "tummy tuck," removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdominal and to tighten the muscles of the abdomen wall. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. The best candidates for abdominoplasty are women or men who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
Complete abdominoplasty usually takes two to three hours, depending on the extent of work required. Partial abdominoplasty may take an hour or two. Most people are able to return to work after two weeks.

Body Fat Reduction
|
Suction-assisted lipectomy - also known as liposuction - is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits from the chin, neck, and cheeks; upper arms and above the breasts; abdomen, buttocks, hips and thighs; and the knees, calves, and ankles. It is not an alternative to weight reduction but a way to remove localized fat deposits that haven’t responded to dieting and exercise.
The best candidates for liposuction are of relatively normal weight but who have pockets of excess fat in certain areas. Having firm elastic skin will yield better results since excess skin will not be reshaped by this process and may require another surgical procedure. Liposuction does not remove cellulite.
The procedure normally takes an hour or two. Recovery time varies by patient but a return to work can be expected within a few days after the procedure.
