Your buttocks plays a huge role in determining the shape and outline of your body. Because of this, it is no surprise that so many people work hard to keep their buttocks in shape.

If, like many people, you are not satisfied with the shape and appearance of your buttocks, you may have tried different methods to enhance it, such as exercising. However, these methods can’t always produce the desired results.

You may find it hard to tighten or tone your rear end simply by exercising, especially if it is sagging because of extreme weight loss. This is where a buttocks lift comes in.

The Buttocks Lift: No More Sagging

A buttocks lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is performed so that you can enhance the appearance of your buttocks. It does not increase the size of your buttocks. Instead, it focuses on tightening the rear end and making it shapelier.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for a Buttocks Lift?

If you identify with the following, then you may be an ideal candidate for a buttocks-lift procedure:

• You are not satisfied with the appearance of your rear end and are looking to enhance it.
• You have lost a lot of weight, resulting in the sagging of your buttocks
• You have maintained a stable weight for at least a year.
• You have realistic expectations from the procedure.

What Is the Buttocks-Lift Procedure Like?

Before the procedure, you and Dr. Lentz will decide on the desired shape and appearance of your buttocks during a consultation. She will discuss the procedure in greater detail with you, and you can ask any questions you may have.

Usually, a buttocks lift takes about two to five hours, depending on the unique conditions and goals of each patient. The procedure requires administration of general anesthesia, which will put you into a temporary unconscious state for the entirety of the procedure.

During the procedure, a tube is placed into your bladder, where urine will collect. Dr. Lentz will give you an antibiotic to help prevent any kind of infection that could otherwise occur during the procedure.

Dr. Lentz will make an incision that runs along your lower back, from one side of your hips to other. Then she will pull up the excess skin under that incision, thereby lifting your buttocks. After this, any extra skin and fat are removed. The incision is closed with sutures.

The Recovery Process

After your surgery, tubes are generally placed under the incision to help drain excess blood or fluid. These are removed after several weeks. Dr. Lentz will use surgical dressings to cover up the incision. It is important that you walk around during recovery, even on the first day, in order to prevent any risk of blood-clot formation.

During your recovery period, it is normal to feel mild to moderate pain and discomfort, for which you will be provided pain medication. Since this is a huge change to your body, you will require some downtime for several weeks.
